What is a crashpad?
Airline pilots and flight attendants have the benefit of living anywhere they want as long as they can get to their base airport before the first flight of their trip. This might mean commuting into base the day before or staying a day after their trip. While their company pays for hotel stays during the trip, it usually doesn’t pay for the hotels before or after. Enter crash pads : Usually a residential house or apartment shared by multiple people for short stays and the pilots usually sleep in a hot or cold bed.
What is a cold bed?
A cold bed is a bed that ”belongs” to the pilot for the length of the lease agreement (at least 31 days). No one else sleeps in that bed.
What is a hot bed?
A hot bed is a bed that is shared. This arrangement is usually found in hotel crashpads. Usually on a first come, first serve basis. If you stayed in a hot bed, you might get a different bed each time you stay there.
Are crashpads legal?
Yes, in most places. Sometimes owners get into health code or local ordinance problems due to related problems like cleanliness, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, parking, etc. A crashpad is neither considered a traditional rental nor a short-term rental and thus, it’s not regulated. Our rentals are for 31 days minimum!

How far is the crashpad from the airport?
7.5 miles. We recommend driving and parking at the South Employee lot (if you have a parking pass) or taking an Uber to/from the Rental Car facility, as this is the least expensive option due to Airport Tolls. You can get a free shuttle to the terminal from both the rental car facility and employee lot.
